Just over twenty years ago, access to clean and natural spaces for Bronxites was difficult or non-existent.
You might remember streets without bike paths and limited street lights. The Bronx River had massive pollution and few legal access points. Our Gardens and Parks were a mix of forgotten or exclusive or unsafe. Locals took care of their neighborhood as best as possible and waited for the city to aid with resources.
Now it’s 2018, and this Earth Day we will enjoy the efforts of groups, residents, churches, schools, the city, and YOU, that have brought the Bronx new life and a greener future. We have come so far as a borough.
Bring yourself, a friend or loved one to join us in celebrating the fruits of our labor in the Bronx. There will be activities for all ages:
- a nature scavenger hunt,
- garden clean up,
- co-operative olympics & team building activities,
- eco-friendly demos led by our cooperatives (DIY natural products, crafts, composting, etc.)
- with more to be announced
